A sensational set of eleven early 20th century Gorham sterling silver Terrapin Plates, custom order for J.E. Caldwell & Company of Philadelphia, circa 1908. Each plate with intricately chased rims of repoussed turtles, seashells and seaweed, the plates with vermeil centers and engraved crest of a lion bearing a torch. Chased by renowned chaser George Sauthof. With papers from Gorham Archives.
