Exuberant 18the century Italian, bureau-cabinet in the Chinoiserie taste, in two sections overall painted and parcel-gilded with gesso renderings of flowers, pagodas and Chinese pastoral scenes, the heavily skirted base and bracket feet supporting a serpentine-form case incorporating three long drawers beneath a drop-front writing table with four small drawers inside flanking shelving; the narrow rectilinear upper section with two central doors, opening to reveal a series of small drawers, shelving and pigeon holes, the interior painted with blue Chinoiserie floral and landscape scenes. The exterior frame-work rising to a stepped pediment with three turned and gilded floral finials.
Circa 1760-1780, with later elements, repairs and restorations.
