Wonderful oil on board painting by Otto Eichinger (Austrian, 1922-2004), of a jovial Cardinal with glass of red wine in hand, signed upper right corner, mid 20th century.

Born in Vienna, Austria in 1922, Otto Eichinger studied at the Academy of Art in Vienna and in Munnich, Germany. He has a special aptitude for his portraites and is best known for his Monks, Peasants, Rabbis and Cardinals. The many years he spent with his brush and oils so trained to perceive the smallest details which when brought our as only Eichinger can, form the prominent importance of his work. He is a world renown artist and an important part of every contemporary collection.
