Extraordinary circa 1590-1660, Italian, Baroque Period, oil on linen canvas, of two women (probably mother and daughter) seated in a grotto, the older woman gestures with her right hand to a potted persimmon tree behind her, the younger woman holding a woven silver basket of persimmons with leaves and a blossom. Mounted in a carved pine or fir frame with gesso and silver leaf of the period.
Canvas measures: 53 ¾” x 44 ½”.
